My Eulogy for Happy

My Eulogy for Happy Today is Maundy Thursday, 2 April, 2015.  Happy passed on at 15:26hrs.  It will be a day I will never forget.  My best friend has left this world but I believe she has gone heavenward and is waiting for us, her loved ones. Prologue I used to be afraid of dogs, yes, that was until my best friend, Xue Ying had her first official pet, a Pomeranian, Kiki.  Although I am innately drawn to dogs, I did not dare to come in contact with them, fearing they might bite me.  I vaguely remember Xue Ying telling me about Kiki and I was really excited to meet her one day in the afternoon…  I think we were only 13 years old.  If my memory did not fail me, I recall meeting Kiki at Xue Ying’s flat void deck.  From a distance, I could see that Kiki was an active and very adorable puppy.  She was walking towards me at a seemingly fast pace and I became increasingly anxious.  At the spur of the moment, I told myself, “if you are goin...

The Kind of Life I Want

Yesterday during my sharing session at work, I talked about a TED Talk, The museum of you that I watched before I arrived at work.  I wanted to say something about September 11 but didn't know which aspect.  After watching the video, I was reminded about the topic of my colleague's sharing a week ago on "Memories".  He talked about how important it was for him to be reminded of God's goodness on a daily basis.  He wanted to bequeath a legacy of journal writings about how God worked in his life.  The sharing also included other mementoes he kept as reminders.  I think it will be great for every person to have short videos on significant moments of their lives.  The videos may include interviews with people involved in the event.  After all, Alzheimer's disease may occur to anyone, at anytime. The second part of my sharing was what I had prepared.  It was about discipline and self-control.  I talked about the differences between the ...

Reminisce

Recapturing the memories of Happy when she was young.  Trying to remember how she and I were like more than a decade ago.  More than that, I am thinking about how my folks have aged and how things are different for me now.  How will the next 10 years be like?  Only God knows. :) Pam

Rise Early & Appreciate

This morning was my turn to do devotion sharing at work.  This time it was different because I did not rehearse at home prior to my sharing.  I had an early night yesterday because I had a late night out on Monday with my sisters.  The night before, I talked to God and requested to rise early the next morning.  In my heart, I have the desire to stroll with my Daddy and Happy for sometime but I just can't seem to wake up early. The alarm clock woke me up at 5am but I was quite tired so I rested for another 25 minutes or so.  I wanted to lie on my bed further just for a few moments but I heard the jingling sound of the keys and buckling of the leash.  So I got up immediately and dashed to the door to stop my Dad.  I told him that I'll join them in a few minutes.   During our stroll, my Dad mentioned how Happy was slowly aging, just like any other human.  He also shared that my Mum has very recently started on an additional part time jo...

Treasure Every Moment

Following the death of my best friend's dog, I become worried about my dog's well-being.  Also attributed to the fact that Happy's (my dog) skin condition was worsening, I decided to wait no longer and brought her to the vet yesterday evening. Facts about Happy #1. My dog, Happy is turning 11 years old on 1st of March. #2. She has always been a little overweight. #3. Other than ear infection these few years, she has some skin problems lately. #4. She is still as active and adorable. #5. She rushes to me excitedly everytime I come home. Facts about Me, the Owner #1. I walk Happy occasionally; once every month (my dad walks her every morning). #2. My parents are the main people looking after her (feeding, cleaning and bathing her). #3. My parents think that I am incapable of taking good care of her if I am the only one left to do so. I admit that I am guilty of not keeping to the promises I made 11 years ago on 11th June 20...

I'm in the process of constructing my photo album for Happy. :) ~ Listened to the audio book: Selling You! by Napoleon Hill Something I learned:- Time Budget (1) 8 hours for sleep (2) 8 hours for work (3) 4 hours for recreation & health (4) 2 hours for study & preparation (5) 2 hours for extra service to others without pay ~ I like the time management. So I guess I'll try this from tomorrow onwards. :) Btw, did you realise that I discontinued my ABCs of life? I will start on it again though... Been busy for a while. Now just for you before you end the day, presenting a song from my memory - Fleetwood Mac's Little Lies Enjoy! Pam Petite

1st Attempt of sketching Happy

Sketching of Happy Think I can do a better job next time. This is my 1st attempt of sketching Happy. :) I've been reading Marvel's version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray". I'm immersed in my reading of the graphic novel. Reminds me so much of the days I used to read Slam Dunk, Wild Half, Archie & other comics continuously & deeply engrossed.
