Plans for welfare and not for evil

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the  Lord , plans for welfare   and not for evil,  to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11 (ESVUK) I have been job searching for about 1 month now and have been feeling down.  Volunteered at GoForth Conference on last Friday and met J there.  I have to say that his presence brought about some comfort.  He shared with me about how God brought him to his current employment and I was quietly happy for him.  He said that while he was overseas with his church mission team, a man came up to him and told him the bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11.  That had stick to my mind because from his sharing, I knew God was/is with him.  It has been tough for me emotionally as I seek for a new job.  My emotions are fluctuating.  I can be excited 1 minute when I received an interview invitation and down when I receive a phone screening that I deemed a poor performance on my part. However, I kn...

John 16:21

John 16: 21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. This verse spoke to me today as I have been pondering about childbirth.  No, I am not pregnant at the moment but I have been gathering information as to whether I should go for natural or caesarean when my time comes.  I have to admit I have the fear of giving birth but I love children.  Therefore, giving birth to a child is something I hope that I'll have the privilege to go through.  Meanwhile, I have to pray to God faithfully about preparing Nat and I to be good parents.  Spoke to a church couple whom I look up to on Sunday.  Learned some tips there.  Disciplining my future children also means that I have to be disciplined. :)  Will continue learning! Love, Pam

Persecuted Christians

As I have written in my previous blog entry, I find it difficult to love our so called "enemies".  As I read about the persecuted Christians in other countries, I can't help but wonder, why can't I love my "enemies" in my comfortable circumstance.  I believe that my brothers and sisters in Christ who are in life-endangering situations will find it hard to love those who put their lives at stake but they must have really relied on the strength of the Lord to love these people. Read about the Boko Haram.   Terrifying.  But the Lord is with His church.  Continue to persevere.  Christian friends, I encourage all of us to keep them in prayer. Love, Pam

Love your enemies

Dear Blog, A lot of things has been happening in my life lately, more so spiritually and emotionally.  I am not sure if I have changed but one thing is for sure -- I love Jesus more and more.  The Lord's sovereign hand has been upon me and my loved ones.  God is so good that I am so afraid that one day if I am not careful, I will forget all the good things He has done for me.  Psalm 103:2 (NLT) says, "Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me."  I am not sure if it has to do with the use of technology but I find myself quite lazy when penning down my thoughts in my physical diary.  I remember a brother sharing about writing down what the Lord has done for him, lest he forgets the goodness of the Lord.  If my memory does not fail me, he said that his mother has Alzheimer's disease and he was afraid that if one day he had this disease, he may not remember God's word.  This sharing motivated me to writ...

Turning Points

Books I borrowed during my lunch break. I'm not sure about you but GE 2011 was a turning point in my life.  There are several major turning points in my life:- #1. Meeting my best friends from Gongshang Primary School. Ladies, you know who you are. Thank you for being in my life and the unforgettable childhood. #2. Receiving Christ as my personal saviour. This is the best decision I have ever made. #3. Getting to know my close sisters from church. All the memories we shared were precious. #4. Having Happy (my dog) in my life. Happy has been in my wish list for 3 years before my parents got her for me during the year which I took my GCE 'O' Level.  The special day was 11th June 2001. #5. Leaving the church I grew up in. I'm not sure how I feel about this but I think my life would have been (a little or more than a little) different if I have stayed on. #6. Relationships that did not feel right. There were ample lesson...

Personal Perspective on CHC Fiasco

My personal perspective on the City Harvest Church fiasco: #1. God is omnipresent (present everywhere), omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing) and God knew about this episode. I believe God is watching.; #2. The CAD does not charge without concrete evidence (they have taken sufficient time to investigate - 2 years). May justice prevail.; #3. It is unavoidable for members of the public with little information about Christianity to judge.  It is also one of my weaknesses to be quick to judge/form negative impression about others, which is unhealthy.; #4. I believe to a certain extent, the message of giving and tithing is relatively strong in City Harvest Church - I may be wrong.  (fyi, I have visited the church a couple of times) My personal belief is that it is important to give to God because God is the creator of everything that exists. He owns everything and we are simply stewards of what we have been entrusted with.  Though I h...
